    NanoComp is a multidisciplinary research laboratory that studies the convergence between Computation, Nanotechnology and Nanoscience. Our main goal is the development of algorithms and tools that help nanoscientists in the development process of innovative and optimized solutions. Our research is also focused in the study of a new generation of computers that explore the properties of nanodevices, overcoming the conventional technology limits.

    Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are commonly seen as having a great potential to provide great benefits in several areas, like the development of new drugs, water and air decontamination, performance improvement in information technology and comunications, creation of new stronger and lighter materials, efficient energy production and so on. There is no doubt that nanotechnology will revolutionize everything that mankind achieved, even the computers.
  • ‣Computational Nanotechnology
    The use of computer systems in the development of Nanotechnology is named "Computational Nanotechnology". This emerge as a fundamental tool to the project of new nanodevices and structures. It's just like any other computational method were and is used to solve problems in other research areas.
  • ‣Nanocomputing
    This research area focus on the nanodevices and structures that aim the development of a new generation of computers, with innovative and efficient architectures. This new nanoeletronics include quantum computating, quantum dot cellular automata (QCA), carbon nanotubes, graphene, molecular transistors, diodes resonant tunneling, DNA computing, single-electron transistor, spin transistor, and biologic systems.
